Will the e-smith server and gateway Linux distribution remain open source? Yes. Our base e-smith server product is and will continue to be open source. In the future we may choose to develop other products from a separate codebase that may sit on top of the e-smith platform and those products may or may not be released under an open source license. However, the e-smith server will remain open source. Will you continue to develop the e-smith server? Yes. We are currently preparing the next release of our product and we will continue to develop the e-smith server platform. If anything, this acquisition now gives us more capabilities for further development. Will you still maintain the e-smith.org developer site and associated mailing lists and web forums? Yes, we will continue to do as much as we can to support and encourage our active developer community. Will the product still be called the "e-smith server"? That has not been determined yet. Will there be any layoffs of technical staff with this acquisition? No. Our technical and development staff continue to believe in the vision of how the e-smith server can help small and mid-size businesses and are excited to join in this new chapter of the product's growth. It is a sign of the strength of the organization that all the technical staff has remained with the company and will be joining the new organization. I have not heard of Mitel in the Linux space. What is their involvement with Linux? Mitel has traditionally been in telecommunications and networking and has had little involvement to date with Linux. However, Linux, and specifically e-smith's implementation, fits in with a number of their strategic plans and they are very excited to have us join them.
