Fast Ethernet Untethered In Radio-Based Product Set

For IT managers looking to benefit from wireless LAN and WAN technology, there is now a license to speed. This week, start-up WinNet Metropolitan Communications Systems Inc. will ship its WIN-100 line of Fast Ethernet wireless systems, which feature full-duplex Fast Ethernet links over point-to-point radio connections. Designed to carry data, the WIN-100 plugs into any Fast Ethernet device, including routers and switches, via an RJ-45 connector.

It can create 100-Mbps links between any buildings located up to six miles apart. The product also lets ISPs connect customers to metropolitan fiber rings. The WIN-100 operates within FCC licensed frequencies at 23, 26 and 38 GHz. Wireless devices have traditionally operated in the unlicensed frequencies. By John Fontana
